Making Felted 3-D Shapes...
Moving from spheres to cubes! Exploring different ways to make felted cubes. This time I created an oragami-type resist pattern. Will refine and enhance that method and then move on to construction using pre-felt pieces and then on to felting around a cubed object of some sort. I enjoy limiting the variables to one thing, in this case creating a wet-felted cube. I feel it expands my skills and my relationship with the feltmaking process. It gives me an opportunity to recognize the little things which often make a big difference overall and also entices me to move in different directions that I might not have noticed otherwise. By not focusing on a particular product or project outcome, I am free to observe and respond while I am making. Research and development mode is exciting for me as an artist!
